The Plasma Activation Difference
Plasma activation must be performed in-house and within 2 hours of copper plating. After that, the activated PTFE surface begins to deactivate — copper deposits with zero mechanical adhesion and separates from the hole wall after 3–5 thermal cycles. Boards pass initial testing and fail in the field.
Most factories that claim PTFE capability outsource plasma activation to a third-party facility. By the time boards are transported and plating begins, the window has closed. Riching PCB operates an in-house RF plasma chamber — activation and plating occur in the same facility, same production shift.
